Nagrakata is a village in the Nagrakata CD block in the Malbazar subdivision of the Jalpaiguri district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Location

It is located at at an elevation of 214 m above MSL.
National Highway 31C passes through Nagrakata. It is a station on the New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar-Samuktala Road Line.

As per the 2011 Census of India, Nagrakata had a total population of 356. There were 169 males and 187 females. There were 53 persons in the age range of 0 to 6 years. The total number of literate people in Nagrakata was 174.

Economy

Nagrakata, 75 km from Siliguri, has been a major hub of tea trading, with numerous tea gardens in the area – Chengmari, Kurti, Bhagatpur, Nagrakata, Jiti, Hope, Naya Sailee, Hilla, Grassmore, Ghatia, Loosan, Dharnipur and many others. With so many tea gardens in the area, Nagrakata has started attracting tourists. Tea Research Association is located here.
