. Mapped in

New Zealand Northern Survey Party
of the
Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition
, 1956–58. Named by them for its
similarity
to the
Canterbury, New Zealand
, mountain of that name, and in
association
with Mount
Arrowsmith
.
