MonoMono
MonoMono was a band formed in Lagos, Nigeria in 1971 by Sierra Leone-born Joni Haastrup, Baba Kenneth Okolulo, and Danjuma "Jimi Lee" Adamu. Other members included Friday Jumbo and Candido Obajimi. They produced a handful of singles and two full length LP's. Soundway Records reissued the first two MonoMono records in 2011: 1972’s Give the Beggar a Chance and 1974’s The Dawn of Awareness. Monomono's sound became popular among Nigeria's middle class youth. The band split apart in 1975 or 1976.
