History

The original church was built in 1675 in the nearby village of Svorkmo and that church building existed until 1816, when it was moved to nearby Smedshaugen. That church building was replaced in 1867 when the present church was built in Moe, on the south side of Vormstad. The present church was consecrated on 28 December 1867 by bishop Andreas Grimelund.
