, during the
reign
of
Darius III
. He was
probably
a son of
Ariarathes
. As a Persian
military commander
he was
killed
at the
Battle of Granicus
fighting
Alexander the Great
.
The
victorious
Alexander
appointed
Abistamenes
in his place.
