Misha Kaura


Misha Kaura is a Paris-based, Indian-American entrepreneur, couturier, author, beauty pageant titleholder, and academic whose works include Survive to Thrive. She is the founder of Darlinghurst Enterprises, a multibrand holding company in manufacturing, media, and fashion.

Career

Kaura was born in West Bloomfield, Michigan to a physician father and a nurse mother and was raised in both Hamilton, Bermuda and West Bloomfield, Michigan. She completed her A Levels at CATS College Cambridge and was presented as a debutante in Vienna. Thereafter, she completed her undergraduate studies in the liberal arts and fashion design before going on to law school study and graduate school study at the master’s and doctoral level. She completes law school in 2021 and joins the faculty as a Professor at Savannah College of Art and Design immediately after graduation.
She started her career by founding an eponymous brand of Misha Kaura in 2017 which mainly uses an Indo-French aesthetic with designs based on metals, bows, sequins and silhouettes. Notably, she was invited to join the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2019, for 2021 entry.
Misha Kaura hosts her own podcast and has also received media coverage from mainstream media such as Inc., Forbes and Business Insider among 80 other publications.
She was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30, Europe, Manufacturing & Industry for 2020.
Kaura is a law student and an active volunteer for causes such as women’s advancement and health access. She's scheduled to join a tenure-track position in September 2021 in the capacity of a Professor of Fashion.

Kaura hosts and writes the podcast Passion for Fashion with Misha Kaura, which was released in May 2019 by Simplecast. The show focuses on academic fashion research.
