Minister for Policing

The Minister of State for Crime, Policing and the Fire Service is a ministerial position held jointly at the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice in the Government of the United Kingdom. Holders of this office have previously held additional responsibilities such as for security, counter-terrorism, the fire service and crime. This role was created by the splitting of the now-defunct office of the Minister for Security, Counter-Terrorism, Crime and Policing into two new ministerial posts: Security & Counter-Terrorism and Crime & Policing, it was then changed to 'Minister of State for Policing and Fire' from January 2016 until July 2019, and then to 'Minister of State for Policing and Crime' when Boris Johnson became Prime Minister in July 2019. In August 2019 the post was renamed 'Minister of State for Crime, Policing and the Fire Service'.
