The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.02. The median age in the city was 37 years. 27.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 27.3% were from 25 to 44; 23% were from 45 to 64; and 15.4% were 65 years of age or older. There were 328 housing units at an average density of 529.0 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 99.52% White, 0.12% Native American, and 0.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.12% of the population. There were 312 households out of which 38.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.4% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.07. In the city, the population was spread out with 28.6% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males. Education
, which serves the municipality, was formed in 1959 as a consolidation of area schools. It operates SE Warren Elementary in Milo, SE Warren Intermediate in Lacona, and SE Warren Junior-Senior High in Liberty Center.
