Mike McDaniel


Michael Lee McDaniel is an American football coach who is the run game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos.
In the 2016 season, McDaniel and the Falcons would reach Super Bowl LI. Against the New England Patriots, the Falcons would fall in a 34–28 overtime defeat.

Coaching career

Denver Broncos

In 2005, McDaniel was hired by the Denver Broncos as an intern under head coach Mike Shanahan.

Houston Texans

In 2006, McDaniel was hired by the Houston Texans as an offensive assistant under head coach Gary Kubiak.

Sacramento Mountain Lions

In 2009, McDaniel was hired by the Sacramento Mountain Lions as a running backs coach.

Washington Redskins

In 2011, McDaniel was hired by the Washington Redskins as an offensive assistant, reuniting with head coach Mike Shanahan. In 2013, he was promoted to wide receivers coach.

Cleveland Browns

In 2014, McDaniel was hired by the Cleveland Browns as their wide receivers coach under head coach Mike Pettine.

Atlanta Falcons

In 2015, McDaniel was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as their wide receivers coach under head coach Dan Quinn.

San Francisco 49ers

In 2017, McDaniel was hired by the San Francisco 49ers as their run game coordinator under head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Personal life

McDaniel grew up with comedian Dan Soder in Aurora, Colorado.
