Middlesex County Sheriff's Office


The Middlesex Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency which serves the 54 cities and towns of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The agency's primary responsibility is oversight of the Middlesex House of Correction and Jail in Billerica, Massachusetts. In addition, the Sheriff's Office operates the Office of Civil Process and, the Lowell Community Counseling Centers, and many crime prevention and community service programs. The office of sheriff was created in 1692, making it one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the United States.

Correctional Facilities

All Middlesex County Sheriff Office recruits go through a training academy to prepare themselves as corrections officers of the county. At the academy, the recruits are taught subjects such as communication skills, disorder management, defensive tactics, etc.
