Mickey's Halloween Party was an annual Halloween-themed separate admission at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. An earlier event with the original name had been held in 1995 and 1996 at the Disneyland Park, and was revived starting in 2005 at Disney California Adventure, staying until 2009, and is considered to be a family-friendly response to the scare-centered events Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Knott's Scary Farm promotion at Knott's Berry Farm, and Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The event returned to the Disneyland park starting in 2010 at first due to space issues during the DCA rethemeing and construction, but more recently because of new permanent nighttime events starting in 2011 at DCA. In 2019, the Party was moved back to Disney California Adventure with a new water show at the former Paradise Pier called "Villainous", a new "Villain's Grove" at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, and more! 's Mickey's Halloween Party 2012 Guests are encouraged to dress in costumes, including adults and those over the age of nine years of age who are normally prohibited from doing so. However, guests dressed as a Disney Character are not allowed to have their pictures taken with other guests or sign autographs as those are done by cast members. Events include trick-or-treating with candy provided by Mars' Snickers brand among others, and healthier alternatives like carrot slices and red and green apple slices provided by Disney-licensee Imagination Farms under the "Disney Gardens" brand, meet and greet chances with the Princesses from Disney's animated movies, Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes and Disney villains plus coloring activities for the younger guests and dance parties. For the activities starting in 2010, Disneyland's Halloween Time events - such as Haunted Mansion Holiday, Space Mountain's "Ghost Galaxy" layout and the Halloween themed fireworks show, called "Halloween Screams", featuring the voice of Chris Sarandon as Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas - were added into the mix. Fifteen minutes before the end of the event, a "cavalcade" is held featuring the characters from the Disney character family to put a festive end to the activities. In 2007, they updated this parade to include Mickey-shaped pumpkin "whirly-pods", and more floats. The parade, now called "Mickey's Costume Party" runs on Main Street USA during the event. However, on September 23, 2016 Disneyland premiered a new parade called "The Frightfully Fun Parade". Guest are allowed in three hours prior to the event start time. Just this year the ticket allowed guest to enter both Disneyland and California adventure park. Past years guest were only allowed to enter the park where event was held. The special event tickets go on sale mid year. They tend to sell out during the first months of sales. The first dates to sell out are closest to Halloween. When the party commences, all the trick or treat stations have a bit of a wait. If you do all the attractions first and then go back for the treats, you will get more out of your time.
