Metin Hakverdi


Metin Hakverdi is a German lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Party who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Hamburg since 2013.

Political career

Career in state politics

In the 2008 state elections, Hakverdi became a member of the State Parliament of Hamburg. During his time in parliament, he served on the Budget Committee, among others.

Member of the German Parliament, 2013–present

Hakverdi became member of the Bundestag in the 2013 German federal election. He is a member of the Finance Committee and the Committee on European Union Affairs.
In addition to his committee assignments, Hakverdi is part of the German-American Parliamentary Friendship Group and the German-Israeli Parliamentary Friendship Group. Within his parliamentary group, he has been chairing a working group on relations with North America since 2018.
