Morenos are Venezuelan people who are the result of a mixture of European, Amerindian and African people.
According to the 2011 Census, those who identify as Moreno amount to 51.6% of Venezuela's population.
Per an autosomal DNA genetic study conducted in 2008 by the University of Brasília, Venezuela's gene pool is composed of 61% European contribution, 23% indigenous contribution, and 16% African contribution.

According to the census the definition of Moreno is, "every person whose phenotypic characteristics are less marked or pronounced than the person defined as black. It is a term that in some contexts can be used to soften the discriminatory implications of being a black person."
