Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom
that permitted
voluntary
admission
to, and
outpatient
treatment
within,
psychiatric hospitals
.
It also
replaced
the term "asylum" with "mental hospital".
It was
repealed
by the
Mental Health Act 1959
.
