Menahem Saleh Daniel


Menahem Saleh Daniel was an Iraqi Jewish landowner and philanthropist.

Career

Daniel was Deputy for Baghdad to the first Ottoman Parliament in Istanbul in 1876, and Senator in the Kingdom of Iraq. His son Ezra Saleh Daniel succeeded him on the Senate.

Philanthropy

Daniel made substantial donations to both Jewish and Muslim charities, and built a Muslim orphanage in 1928, and a Jewish primary school in 1910.

Personal life

His nephew was Sir Sassoon Eskell.
