McArthur, California


McArthur is a census-designated place in Shasta County, California, United States. The population was 338 at the 2010 census, down from 365 at the 2000 census. McArthur is a small ranching community, located 4 mi east of Fall River Mills.

2010

The 2010 United States Census reported that McArthur had a population of 338. The population density was 332.7 people per square mile. The racial makeup of McArthur was 217 White, 0 African American, 15 Native American, 0 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 98 from other races, and 8 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 119 persons.
The Census reported that 338 people lived in households, 0 lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 0 were institutionalized.
There were 127 households, out of which 49 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 72 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 17 had a female householder with no husband present, 4 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 9 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 1 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 24 households were made up of individuals and 15 had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66. There were 93 families ; the average family size was 3.04.

There were 168 housing units at an average density of 166.4 per square mile. The racial makeup of the CDP was 71.8% White, 5.2% Native American, 20.3% from other races, and 2.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 24.9% of the population.
There were 150 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the CDP, the population was spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
