Maysoon al-Nahar


Maysoon Al-Nahar is Jordanian archaeologist specializing in the Paleolithic, Epipaleolithic and Neolithic of the Southern Levant. She is a professor in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Jordan. She has excavated at Tell Abu es-Suwaan, Jerash, Jordan, and on the left bank of the Jordan Valley, researching the first human settlements found there. Al-Nahar has served as the Assistant Dean for Archaeological and Heritage Museums, the Head of the Department of Archaeology and the Museum Director at the University of Jordan.
Al-Nahar studied Anthropology and Prehistory at Arizona State University between 1995 and 2005. Al-Nahar has experience in the use of new technologies within the archaeological field, including archaeometry and Radiocarbon dating, as well as paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
