May Sa’iri School is a public school for grades 1 through 4 in May Sa’iri, Melfa, Dogu’a Tembien, Tigray, Ethiopia.

Description

The May Sa’iri School has 3 roofed class rooms and one open-air class.
As of 2018, the school had 135 students, 60 girls and 68 boys.

In 2018, water was available at the school from a nearby handpump.
There were no specific facilities for the older girls handling menstrual hygiene; this is a major reason for adolescent girls dropping out from school.
Up to 2018, there was no toilet building, students went in the open.
In 2019, the School WatSani project has built an Ecosan toilet building at this school.
Through nudging approach, the students are sensitised for using the sanitation and water facilities.

Transportation

All children travel to school on foot.
