Max Pestalozzi


Max Pestalozzi was a Swiss chess master.
Son of Adolf Salomon, banker, and Magdalena Berta Schulthess. He was a mathematician until 1889. From 1889 to 1921 he worked for the Swiss Railways. He was co-founder and first president of the :de:Schachgesellschaft Zürich|Schachgesellschaft Zürich, the oldest chess club in the world.
He was joint Swiss champion in 1889, 1890 and 1901, and defeated Dietrich Duhm in 1900.
