Matty Blythe


Matty Blythe is an English former rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He played at club level in the Super League for the Warrington Wolves and the Bradford Bulls, and in the Championship for the Leigh Centurions, the Bradford Bulls, and the Rochdale Hornets, as a or.

Career

Warrington Wolves

Blythe's career began with the Warrington Wolves in 2007.

Bradford Bulls

In 2013 Blythe was loaned out to Super League side the Bradford Bulls for the 2013 Bradford Bulls season. Blythe played in the pre-season friendlies against Dewsbury Rams and Leeds Rhinos, he scored against the Dewsbury Rams.
The following year, he featured in six consecutive games from the commencement of the season. He then missed a large chunk of games through injury. Blythe returned and featured in Round 14 to Round 21 and also in the Challenge Cup against London Broncos. Blythe scored 7 tries in the regular season that year, which included a brace against Salford City Reds. He signed a permanent 3-Year Deal with the Bradford Bulls towards the back end of the 2014season.
Blythe missed Rounds 1–5 due to injury. He featured in Round 6 to Round 9. He was injured for Rounds 10-14. Blythe played in Round 15 to gound 20 then in Round 22 to gound 26. He also featured in gound 4 and in the Quarter Final in the Challenge Cup. He scored against the Wigan Warriors.
Blythe featured in Round 17 to gound 23. Blythe played in Qualifier 1 to Qualifier 4 then in Qualifier 7. Blythe played in the £1 Million Game. He scored against the Batley Bulldogs, the Hunslet Hawks, Leigh Centurions and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. However, the Bradford Bulls were relegated to the Kingstone Press Championship by Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the £1 Million Game.
Blythe featured in both pre-season friendlies against Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers before the 2016 Bradford Bulls season.
He featured in Round 1 to Round 4 then in Round 6 to Round 7. Blythe played in round 13 to round 15 then in round 19 to round 21. He played in round 23. Blythe featured in the Championship Shield game 1 to game 2. Blythe played in the Challenge Cup in the 4th round. He scored against the Swinton Lions, the Dewsbury Rams, the London Broncos and Whitehaven.

Return to Warrington Wolves

At the end of the season Matty Blythe signed a 1-year deal with ex club Warrington Wolves. He managed to get three games in 2017's Super League XXII, against Castleford Tigers, Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils, all three games were lost. Blythe was loaned out to Rochdale Hornets of the Kingstone Press Championship on dual registration where he played twice against Halifax and the Sheffield Eagles. He announced his retirement having been released by Warrington Wolves.
