Matthew Ball (dancer)


Matthew Ball is a British ballet dancer. As of 2018, he is a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet in London.
Ball was born in December 1993 in Liverpool, England, the son of a dance teacher mother and a drama teacher and writer father.
He trained at The Royal Ballet School. He joined The Royal Ballet during the 2013/14 season, was promoted to first artist in 2015, soloist in 2016, first soloist in 2017 and principal dancer in 2018.
At the Royal Ballet he has danced many of the major classical roles including Prince Florimund and Bluebird, Prince, Solor, Romeo, Crown Prince Rudolf, De Grieux, Basilio, Albrecht, Lensky, Armand, Escamillo and Beliaev. In 2018, he danced The Swan in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake for 32 performances at Sadler's Wells.
