Matt Duss


Matthew Duss is an American political activist, blogger, and foreign policy advisor to Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign.

Background and education

Duss was born in Nyack, New York. His mother was a nurse and his father, a journalist, was born in a Ukrainian kulak family and immigrated to the United States at age 2.
According to The Nation, like Senator Sanders, Duss spent his twenties "adrift."

Career

Duss worked for the Center for American Progress until 2014, blogging "prolifically " on ThinkProgress. According to Business Insider, Duss "broke into the political world as a blogger."
He left CAP in 2014, becoming president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace.
Duss is credited with being "the principal reason that Sanders" introduced the resolution to end U.S. military support for Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen.

Duss supported the Iran nuclear deal framework.

Israel

Duss has said that the United States must “recognize that Israel’s continued occupation of Palestinian territories and its daily restrictions on the most basic political and civil liberties of the Palestinian people run contrary to fundamental American values.”
