Masat, Bayburt


Masat is a village in the District of Bayburt, Bayburt Province, Turkey. As of 2010 it had a population of 921 people. The Dome of Dede Korkut is two kilometers far away from the center of the village. The name of the village was Masad in Ottoman Era and the spelling was various. “مصاد”, “ماساد”, “مساد”, “مصعاد” and “ماساط” were some spellings to indicate the village on maps. The former name has replaced Yıldırım in 1990s.
According to the population census held in 1835, the village was hosting 15 youngs, 12 children, and 20 elder Muslim living in 20 houses in total.
