Marita Hakala


Marita Hakala is a Finnish fashion model, who worked in many countries' top agencies as a high fashion model. She started her career in Milan, Italy, and her first booking was with high end fashion house Blumarine.
After her active international modeling career, Hakala wrote TV format Mallikoulu based on her own experiences in the modeling world as a shy Finnish girl. The show was aired on Finland's main channel MTV3 on Fridays at prime time during 2005 and 2006. The winner of the first season was Suvi Koponen who was then a 16-year-old school girl, and is now a world renowned super model.
Marita Hakala is known for her multifaceted experience in fashion modeling business, and especially her skills to scout and train new model talents. She is the owner of her own international Model and Talent Agency Casting House Inc. in Helsinki, Finland, that was founded in 2006. She was married to fellow Finn Esa Tikkanen.
Hakala has been part of several Finnish TV programs and fashion related events.
In 2014, Hakala moved to Los Angeles. She is now working as a freelance entertainment reporter and writer for Finnish press, TV and internet sites. She also still works as a model part-time.
