Maria Quiñones-Sanchez


Maria D. Quiñones-Sánchez is an American politician who serves on the Philadelphia City Council representing the 7th district. A member of the Democratic Party, she has held office since 2008. She was the first Hispanic elected to the city council. She has frequently clashed with the Democratic Party establishment in the city.
Quiñones-Sánchez was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland in the 1960s with her mother and brothers. She lives in Norris Square in North Philadelphia and has two children with her husband, Tomas.
