His good performances were also honored by the fans who voted him "Unioner of the Year 2011". With the hiring of Daniel Haas as a goalkeeper at the beginning of the season 2012/13 at Union Berlin, Höttecke finally lost his #1 goalkeeper place in the squad. Nevertheless, he remained with the team until the end of his contract. After his departure from Union Berlin, he moved to Berliner AK 07 into the fourth division in Germany, the Regionalliga.
