Manmad Junction railway station


The Manmad Junction Railway Station is a Central Railway junction in India serving the town of Manmad in the Nashik district of Maharashtra. The station in the city is called "Manmad Junction," and its station code is MMR. It is one of the Central Railway's major stations connecting Nashik with other cities and towns in the region. The Ankai and Tankai forts are within 10.6 km from the station.

History

The first train to visit Manmad Junction Railway Station on April 19, 1853, traveled from Mumbai to Thane. In May 1854, the Great Indian Peninsula Railway's Mumbai to Thane line was extended to the Kalyan Railway Station. The Bhusawal Junction Railway Station was built in 1861, but it was not opened for traffic until the mid-1860s. The track was then extended to Khandwa in 1866 and again to Nagpur in 1867.
In 1890 the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway began service on the 391 miles from the city of Hyderabad to Manmad Junction.

Infrastructure

The Central Engineering Workshop is in Manmad, Maharashtra. Girder bridges are made in the structural yard, and other manufacturing takes place in the general yard and workshop.

Development of the station

The railways in the Niphad-Manmad-Nandgaon sector were switched to electric power. Locomotives were also changed to use electricity between 1968 and 1969. Manmad has an electric locomotive trip shed to supply and control the trains. Free high-speed Wi-Fi was enabled since 2017. Manmad Junction Railway Station is among the top-100 most-booked stations within the Indian Railways system.
The Central Railway plans to double the line between Daund and Manmad.
