Manhasset Secondary School


Manhasset Secondary School is a six-year public high school and middle school located in Manhasset, Nassau County, New York, United States on the North Shore of Long Island. The school district is called Manhasset Union Free School District, despite the district not being union-free. Manhasset High School consistently ranks among the top 100 high schools in America. In addition, the school has been represented yearly national science competitions such as I-SWEEEP, ISEF, and WAC Foundation Lighting Science Fair. Manhasset teachers are some of the most highly paid in the country, with a median annual salary of $116,556.
As of the 201415 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,092 students and 83.0 classroom teachers, for a student–teacher ratio of 13.2:1. There were 44 students eligible for free lunch and 8 eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Building history

The secondary school building was built in 19341939 as a project of the Works Progress Administration. The building was designed by the firm Tooker & Marsh with Roger H. Bullard as an associate architect. John H. Esile & Co. was contracted as the building contractor. It has undergone multiple extensions and renovations throughout the years, but remains almost entirely intact historically. The interior main hallway and auditorium underwent restoration in 2009. It is currently pending a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Symphonic Choir, Concert Choir I, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Select Ensemble, Kinsmen, The Shirley Tempos, Long Island Sounds. Manhasset also features music from Orchestra, Band, and Jazz Ensemble..
