Maharajganj City Council is a Nagar Panchayat located in Siwan district of the Indian state of Bihar.

Geography

The city is divided into total 14 wards. It is the block headquarter of Maharajganj block.

History

During British rule, the MG railway line ran through the town. At the time it was a large, regional market. Galla market and the cloth market were prominent.

Culture

The "Maunia Baba Mela" is popular among the local population. Mahashivratri, Durga Puja and Guru Purnima at Bala Baba Mathiya is very famous for its celebration. Jarti Mai Mandir, Kankarin Mai Mandir and Bala Baba ka Math is highly famous for peace and blessings.
