Magic Trackpad 2


The Magic Trackpad 2 is a multi-touch and Force Touch trackpad produced by Apple Inc. Announced on October 13, 2015, it is the successor to the Magic Trackpad.

Description

The Magic Trackpad 2 is similar to its predecessor, with the key differences being a larger form factor, rechargeable lithium-ion battery and Force Touch. The trackpad also provides haptic feedback via Apple's built-in Taptic Engine that is the same in MacBook trackpads. The Lightning connector is used for charging and pairing.
The trackpad is compatible with Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers running OS X El Capitan versions 10.11 and higher.
Google contributed patches to the Linux kernel for support included in version 4.20 released in Dec 2018.

Complementary Apple products

The Magic Trackpad 2 was released alongside the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Mouse 2 in October 2015.
