Macdara Woods


Macdara Woods was an Irish poet from Dublin. He was educated there at Gonzaga College and University College Dublin.

Life

Macdara Woods was married to the poet Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, they have an adult son, Niall, a musician. He lived in Dublin and Umbria. A founder-editor of the Irish literary magazine Cyphers, he was a member of Aosdána since 1986.

Death

Woods died on 15 June 2018 in St. James's Hospital.

Woods's work has been translated into many languages. He has collaborated with musicians, notably Brendan Graham, Benjamin Dwyer, Militia and Richard Hartshorne.
