MES College of Engineering is a private engineering college in Kuttippuram, Malappuram. It is the first established engineering college under the self financing sector in Kerala, an urban campus that extends more than a mile alongside the Bharathappuzha. It was established as an institution with minority status in 1994. Widely acknowledged as one of the premier institutions imparting technical education in the state, the college offers admission to all categories of students with special consideration to educationally backward communities. The institute also encompasses a number of major off-campus facilities such as the Fabrication Laboratory, the MES Innovation Centre, and the Community Development Centre. At present the college offers eight undergraduate programmes including Bachelor of Architecture and ten post graduate courses in Master of Engineering, Master of Computer Applications, Master of Business Administration and Master of Architecture.
History
The college was established along the banks of the Bharathapuzha River in 1994. It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister, E K Nayanar in 1998. The commitment of Muslim Educational Society towards excellence in engineering and technology development inspire the society to take up the challenge of building this Engineering College. Established in 1994, the College is situated amidst the scenic beauty on the beauty on the bank of Bharathappuzha. Recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, CoA and government of Kerala, the college is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. This is the first self-financing engineering college in the state having Muslim minority status. The college id located at Thrikkannapuram, 4 km south of Kuttippuram railway station on the Kuttippuram-Thrissur highway. The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport, 50 km away from the college.
A governing body constituted as per the norms of All India Council for Technical Education, consisting of the representatives of the management, Central and State governments as well as Industry has the overall control of running the college.
Mechanism of Governance
The managing committee, the governing body and academic advisory board consisting of eminent educationists and industrialists guide the affairs of the college. The committee meet at regular intervals, monitor activities and take appropriate action for continuous growth.
Alumni Association
An active Alumni Association is functioning in the college. All students who leaves the college after the successful completion of their courses are to become members of the Association. The association plays an active role in the development of the college. In addition to the various contributions, the association makes for the welfare of the students and of the institution. They reward gold/medal/certificates and more to the outstanding students. It is mandatory to all the passing-out students to become life member of alumni association.
Academics
MESCE operates on a 4–1–4 academic calendar with the fall semester beginning before Independence Day and ending in mid-December, and the spring semester commencing in early January and ceasing in late May. Currently there are ten undergraduate and six postgraduate courses available in the college.
