Lycée Louis Pasteur (Calgary)


Lycée Louis Pasteur is a private international French school in Calgary, Alberta. It is non-denominational and serves students from maternelle to Grade 12.

History

Established in 1966, Lycée Louis Pasteur is Calgary's premier French school.
Originally reserved for children of expatriate French nationals, the school's reputation for quality academic schooling spread and in 1982, the school was open to families from all nationalities and linguistic backgrounds.
In 2000, the school moved to its current location in the residential neighborhood of Garrison Woods.

Academics

Lycée Louis Pasteur provides a comprehensive education in a structured academic environment. The Lycée is the only school in Calgary to teach the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula, offering students a unique education. The French curriculum is taught in French by French speakers and the Alberta curriculum is taught in English by English speakers and produces academically-adept students who are truly bilingual. English is taught starting in Kindergarten. Spanish is taught beginning in Grade 6. Upon graduation, Lycée students receive their high school diploma and the Baccalauréat, a diploma recognized for university entrance throughout the world.
Families from all linguistic backgrounds are welcome to attend Lycée Louis Pasteur. No prior French exposure is needed to enroll in their maternelle Program. Classes are taught by a certified teacher and an assistant.
The Lycée's French Language Immersive Program allows the school to welcome new students Grades 1 to 5 with no prior French and includes individualized learning plans and significant one-on-one time with a dedicated teacher.
Lycée Louis Pasteur is a member of a prestigious network of 495 schools in 137 countries. It is the only school in Calgary to be a member of this global network. Students can move from one establishment to another, allowing families to relocate or students to spend a trimester or a year abroad.
The Lycée Board of Directors did not sign a new convention with the AEFE and as off September 2018, the Lycée will be partner with the AEFE.
