Loveclough

Loveclough is a small hamlet at the edge of the Rossendale Valley, in Lancashire, England. It is located next to Crawshawbooth, a larger village with a school and shops, and Rawtenstall, a larger town that is connected via motorway to Manchester and elsewhere. The village lies 20 miles north of Manchester, 21 miles east of Preston, and 44 miles south east of Lancaster, the county town.

Governance

Loveclough is considered part of the Rossendale and Darwen constituency, after the constituency of Rossendale was abolished in 1983. The constituency sends one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons. As of June 2009, both Lancashire County Council and the local council, Rossendale Borough Council, are controlled by the Conservative Party.

Geography and tourism

The small hamlet is located on the edge of the Pennine hills in Northern England. Away from the cities and in the hills, some people would consider it a beauty spot of the north west of the country, and a quiet place to go around business without the stress of city life. Various wildlife can be seen in the area, and there are plenty of lakes and rivers, such as the Limy Water, a tributary of the River Irwell which it joins in Rawtenstall. Local people take advantage of this by performing activities such as fishing and bird watching.

Transport

Loveclough is served by the X43 'The Witch Way' bus service to Rawtenstall, Burnley, and Manchester, shortlisted for a UK Bus Award in October 2006.
