Louis-Félix Rhénasteine


Louis-Félix Rhénasteine was a painter from what is now Belgium. He was born in Malmedy, where he also died. He was notable for his religious works and portraits. He is also known as Louy Phélix Rhénasteine in writings of the period.

Life

A son of the painter Nicolas Rhénasteine, he worked for the courts of the prince-abbots of Stavelot-Malmédy and of the Prince-Bishops of Liège. He had three sons, who all also became portraitists:
