Lontara


Lontara or lontaraq are Bugis palm-leaf manuscripts that record knowledge on such topics as history, science, custom, and laws. The term originates from the Javanese/Malay word lontar, which is the type of tree that provides the leaves used.
The types of lontara includes

  2. bilang or kotikacharacteristics of each days of the week
  3. ade´ or ada´adat
  4. ulu adapast treaties or texts between kingdoms or countries
  5. alopi-loppingshipping adat
  6. pangorisenggenealogies of the royals.
