The following is a complete list of World Championship races that have been a part of the FIA World Championship since its inception in. Major auto racing events are often named Grands Prix, a tradition dating back to the first decade of the 20th century and the Grand Prix motor racing of the 1920s and 1930s. However, the terms "Formula One Grand Prix", "Formula One race", and "World Championship race" have not always been synonymous – see Formula One#Distinction between Formula One and World Championship races for a detailed explanation.
