Levolor is a manufacturer of custom window blinds and shades, stock blinds and shades.

History

The company was founded in 1914 in Hoboken N.J by H.K Lorentzen, a Danish immigrant as a Die cutter left stranded while he came from China. Considered the Henry Ford of the industry who introduced standardization, vertical integration, metal manufacturing and assembly lines concept In 1993, Levolor was acquired by Newell. In July 2016, Levolor was acquired by Hunter Douglas, another custom window blind manufacturer.

In Popular Culture

The rock band Veruca Salt wrote a song titled 'number one blind' singing the company name in the chorus. The song is about window blinds keeping the sun away and make it hard to know the time of day it is.
