Leonor Teles (filmmaker)


Leonor Diogo Vitorino Teles is a Portuguese filmmaker.

Education and career

Leonor Teles was born in 1992 in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, and has two siblings. She is partly Romani from her father's side.
She has a degree in Film from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School and a master's degree in Audiovisual Art and Multimedia from the College of Communication of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.
Her debut commercial film was Rhoma Acans, a documentary made as a school project, where she explored her Romani roots. After graduating, her first film was Balada de um Batráquio.

Teles has received the following prizes for her work in cinema.
She also won the Municipal Golden Medal of Cultural Value, awarded by the Vila Franca de Xira City Council, in 2016, after winning the Short Film Golden Bear.
