"Learning the Game" is a song written and recorded by Texas pop rock musician Buddy Holly in 1958 and published in 1960, a year after his death. It was the A side to the song "That Makes It Tough".

The song was recorded in 1959, shortly after his marriage and before his death. Similar to his previous songs, it combined A, E, and D chords. It was also overdubbed a few times.

The song has been recorded by many notable artists, including The Rolling Stones, The Lemonheads, and Bobby Vee. It was also covered by Natalie Merchant for Buddy Holly's 75th birthday.
