Lawachara Jame Mosque


Lawachara Jame Masjid,, is a mosque located in Bhanugach-Srimangal Road, Lawachara National Park, Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh.

Architecture

Currently, the mosque has been painted blue with a green roof. It has three wooden doors to enter the main hall and two pillars outside the main entrance. On the right of the main entrance, is another smaller entrance leading to a female prayer area. Located in the middle of a tropical rain-forest, the surrounding trees near the mosque are inhabited by monkeys.

History

This mosque is said to be the first and only mosque to be built in the Lawachara National Park. It was built and established on the 12th of December 1967 when the nation was known as East Pakistan. The sidewall of the culvert next to the mosque crumpled up in May 2017, heavily affecting transportation. On 28 March 2018, the mosque's imam, Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman Masum of Gobindpur, went missing and could not be found at the mosque.
