Landis Blair


Landis Blair is an American illustrator and comic artist. He both wrote and illustrated ', but is probably best known as the artist of '
with David Carlson and for his work with Caitlin Doughty whose second book, From Here to Eternity, he illustrated. He also writes and publishes some of his own books under the publishing label Sastergoodment Press and is a member of The Order of the Good Death.
Blair's heavily crosshatched drawings and dark storytelling are influenced by Edward Gorey and The New York Times referred to his work on The Hunting Accident as being drawn with "a graphomaniacal fervor".
His illustrations have appeared in print and online magazines and have been used for commercial art such as t-shirt and tote bag designs.
In 2018, he and David Carlson won Best in Adult Books for The Hunting Accident at the inaugural Excellence in Graphic Literature awards, and in 2012 Blair was the Grand Prize winner of The New Yorker's Eustace Tilley contest.
