Lam Siu-por


Lam Siu-Por is a Hong Kong mathematician and the husband of Carrie Lam, the fourth Chief Executive of Hong Kong since 2017.

Career

Lam earned his doctorate in algebraic topology from the University of Cambridge in 1983, after writing his thesis under the direction of Frank Adams.
Siu-por used to teach at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and retired to England, but has since taught some short courses at the Capital Normal University in Beijing.

Personal life

With Carrie Lam, Lam Siu-por has two sons, Jeremy and Joshua, both of whom studied in Great Britain.
He carries both Hong Kong and British citizenship.

Political views

During the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, Lam stated that his wife would be "condemned by history".
