Krzysztof Pietroszek


Krzysztof Pietroszek is a Polish/Canadian computer scientist and filmmaker,, serving as tenure-track professor in the Film and Media Arts Division of the School of Communication at American University. He is also an affiliate faculty in the Department of Computer Science at AU and the Founding Director of Immersive Designs, Experiences, Applications and Stories Lab at American University. Previously, Dr. Pietroszek was a tenure-track professor at California State University Monterey Bay.
His research and art projects involve designing volumetric capture equipment, telemedicine technologies, persuasive virtual and augmented reality, games for change, human-computer interaction, interactive narrative and montage in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality. As a filmmaker, Krzysztof produced a Canadian feature Waiting for Summer and directed a number of short films. He is also a writer/director/producer of the volumetric transmedia project ``Vera'', where volumetric, traditional and 360 films become a medium of adaptation for Katherine Mansfield's short story.

Biography

Krzysztof Pietroszek received Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, M.F.A. in Film from York University, M.A. in Communication Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University, and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Wroclaw. He is married and has three sons.
