Koishiwara ware
Koishiwara ware is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Koishiwara, Fukuoka Prefecture in western Japan.
The history dates back to the 17th century, when the third Lord Kuroda Mitsuyuki invited potters from Imari, Saga to Fukuoka.
Production today is centred around the village of Tōhō, Fukuoka.
Koishiwara ware traditionally consists of utility vessels such as bowls, plates, and tea cups. The style is often slipware.
