Kościan


Kościan is a town on the Obra canal in west-central Poland, with a population of 23 952 inhabitants as of June 2014. Situated in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, previously in Leszno Voivodeship, it is the capital of Kościan County.
In medieval times the town was an important center of craftwork and formed a German language island in Polish-speaking environs,.
Polish nobleman Ignacy Wyssogota Zakrzewski was born nearby.
