Kid Bookie


Tyronne Buddy-Lee Ike Hill, better known by his stage name Kid Bookie, is a rapper/musician from South East London.

Biography

He started his musical journey as a youngster playing guitar in a local band until his father introduced him to Rap music, where he then began to shift his focus into Hip-Hop from an early age, although later in his career his earlier rock influences become a prominent sound within his music. He started creating music locally until he branched out and met fellow musician Dot Rotten where he introduced him to the nation by taking him on Tim Westwood's BBC 1 Xtra show when he was 16 years old. He received mixed reactions from his performance thus harbouring a drive to do better in the future. In 2009 he brought out his first mixtape entitled 'In The Making' which gained a lot of attention within the radio circuit allowing him to work with the more higher tier of MC's within the underground circuit.
Formally a part of Dot Rotten's minarmy camp. His sound has become heavily influenced by indie type chords and electric guitar power strums mixed with multi syllabic rhyming patterns and melodic choruses citing it as his formula to create music. As well as holding a certain precedent in UK music scene, he has branched over sea's forming collaborations with D12 member Kuniva and Swifty McVay plus ex Slaughterhouse 's Crooked I as well as pop songstress Samantha Mumba bringing forward Scrufizzer, Lady Leshurr & Dot Rotten to feature on the record with them to. It was called Evolution and released as an audio on BBC 1Xtra with DJ Cameo on 7 July 2014. It has since then been revamped with underground producer Teeza creating the 2.0 version with the video released on the UK music platform, SB.TV.
2016 saw the release of Kid Bookie's 'You'll Rate Me When I'm Dead' led by the single Premonition featuring Nasaan, Dot Rotten & Christie. The music video to Premonition was Kid Bookie's first to make it to mainstream TV with channels such as The Box, Kiss TV and more giving it play listing. 'Hey' being the unofficial second single from Y.R.M.W.I.D was released on Kid Bookie's VEVO as a visual to stream, a remix was later put out featuring D12's Swifty McVay.
2018 saw the announcement of a forthcoming 'underground album' called Publish This, a live showcase of the album was delivered in partnership with Relentless. January 2018, Kid Bookie was invited on the European leg of the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony tour by Krayzie Bone himself which covered London and Amsterdam.
Kid Bookie released the 'Shake UP' EP on 31 July 2018 which was accompanied by an audio advert in which he targets Chris & Kem for having no 'honorary contributions to the culture'. Shortly after, the self titled 'underground album' Publish This was released on 12 December 2018 attracting underground media attention with Complex citing it as an 'essential listen'.
On 5 February 2019, it was announced that Kid Bookie & Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor were working on some "very special music" via a series of back and forth tweets on the social media platform Twitter. On 25 March the song "Stuck in my ways" was released featuring Taylor rapping the second verse. A music video for the song was released on 18 April.
