Khana Qubadi


Khana Qubadi or was a Kurdish Jaff poet, and one of the main Gurani poets. He wrote his poems in the Hawrami dialect. He belonged to the Hawrami school of poetry in the Ardalan principality. He lived in Derne which was the capital of Derteng, Hulwan and Bajelan dynasties which is located in modern-day Salas-e Babajani County. Qubadi was the first to translate Quran to the Kurdish language.
He first lived in the court of the Ardalans, based in southern Kurdistan. His translations were burned by extremists, leading him to escape as a fugitive to the areas of the Baban dynasty in Shahrizor.

Works

His main published work is Şîrîn û Xesrew , written in 1740. Despite being a master in Persian language and Persian literature, he was in favor of using Kurdish in literature, as indicated in one of his poems:
