Katharine Pooley


Katharine Pooley is an award-winning British interior designer based in Chelsea, London.

Early life

British born Katharine Pooley was educated at St Mary's School, Oxfordshire and attended INSA University in Lyon, France. She spent 14 years living in Hong Kong where she worked for Morgan Stanley and Barclays Bank. She has also lived in Vietnam, Singapore, Bahrain and London.

Career

Pooley's first boutique opened in 2004, with a design studio opening the following year. Having decorated an apartment in Hong Kong, a mansion in Singapore, a beach villa in Thailand, a restored Scottish castle, a ski lodge in Colorado, and a house in Knightsbridge, Pooley opened an Interiors boutique in London, set up an Interior Design Company and opened a showroom in Doha.

Personal life

Pooley is married, and has two children
Apart from her interests in interiors and travel, Pooley also enjoys cookery. She has attended several cookery courses, namely Cordon Bleu and Prue Leith. In 2003 she published a travel diary cookbook, A Taste of My World.
Her hobbies include mountaineering, and she has an ambition to climb Mount Everest. She also enjoys sports and animals, and owns dogs. She divides her time between Asia, London and Scotland. The family home in Scotland is Forter Castle.
