Karnit Flug


Karnit Flug is a Polish-born Israeli economist. She held the position of governor of the Central Bank of Israel between November 2013 and November 2018. She became the first female governor of the Bank of Israel.
Flug won an "A" grade three times in Global Finance Magazine’s annual Central Banker Report Cards, and was repeatedly considered one of the best bank governors in the world.

Biography

Karnit Flug graduated with a master's degree in economics from Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1980, and a PhD in economics at Columbia University in New York City in 1985. She was a member of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund.
